A.D.D. Healing Stories

CASE STUDY of ADD, ADHD by TERRY FRIEDMAN, M.D.

This case study was conducted for two years, from 1999-2001. Using Children between the ages of 6 to 12 years. Twenty subjects not diagnosed with ADD/ADHD were used as the control group. Twenty subjects with a confirmed diagnoses of ADD/ADHD were used as the study group.

Each group was pre-tested using a baseline evaluation with real time EEG and The T.O.V.A. Scale.

The essential oils chosen for the case study were Lavender, Vetiver, Cedarwood and Brain Power (a blend of Frankincense, Sandalwood, Melissa, Cedarwood, Blue Cypress, Lavender and Helichrysum.)

The oils were administered in this fashion: one of the oils was administered by inhalation 3 times a day for 30 days. An inhalation device was also used at night to administer a continuous inhalation of oil.

The subject then inhaled when needed, about 3 times during the day when they began to feel "scattered". The inhalation of the oils proved to settle the brainwaves back into normal patterns and improved their scholastic performance and behavioral patterns.

Each subject was tested on each oil for 30 days and then reevaluated by testing. Then another oil was used for 30 days and reevaluated, until each of the oils had been tested. Lastly, oil combinations were used, each for a 30 day period. (Brain Power with Lavender, with Cedarwood, and Vetiver.)

The final results were: Lavender increased performance by 53%, Cedarwood increased performance by 83% and Vetiver increased performance by 100%.

This study was to be published in the American Medical Association Journal.

7th Grader Heals Her Own A.D.D.

Nancy Orlen Weber wanted me to pass this story along. My daughter Gwen is doing a project for a science fair at a local high school. She is in 7th grade at N.J. and her science teacher told the class anyone who does a project for this Fair will get an automatic A for this marking period, so Gwen is going for it.

Gwen is using herself as her test subject. She is comparing the use of certain medications vs. Y.L. Essential Oils (Brain Power, Clarity, and Frankincense) to see how they effect A.D.D.

Gwen has the results of her TOVA (Test of Variables of Attention) tests when she was on no medication, when she was on 2 different strengths of Straterra, and when she was on Wellbutrin. She was on Concerta when we heard (I believe it was on the news) about 19 people dying, some children, due to the main ingredient in her medication.

Before I could talk to the doctor, unbeknownst to me, my daughter stopped taking her medication. She would throw her pill away at school. At the time we were sporadically applying the oils. When I found out she was throwing her medication away, I made a concerted effort to apply the oils on a regular basis. I couldn't argue with her over not taking the meds., she had a legitimate reason.

We aimed at applying the oils to the back of her neck (1-2 drops ea.) once in the morning and once before bed. A lot of times we only did it one of those times and there were plenty of days where once she was asleep I would realize she hadn't gotten her oils that day. So back to the TOVA test, all of the above meds. never took Gwen out of the A.D.D. range on the TOVA test. She did get to borderline between normal and A.D.D., but not over the border. Her highest score was -1.81. On the Young Living Essential Oils alone Gwen's TOVA score was +.20. Dr. Farmer was pleasantly surprised to see this.

He told us there is no research like this going on (meds. vs. essential oils for A.D.D.), he assumes it is because it is too expensive. He told Gwen it looks like 7th graders will lead us into the field of this kind of research. I told him sure because they're going to just go ahead and do it on themselves.

Dr. Farmer seemed very proud of Gwen for her guts and initiative to just go for it, and so am I. Way To Go Gwen! Way To Go Young Living Essential Oils!

Sincerely,
Veronica
