Anti-Viral Properties of Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

Thieves Oil Blend™ was created from research about a group of 15th-century thieves who rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contracting the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. When apprehended, these thieves disclosed the formula of herbs, spices, and oils they used to protect them-selves in exchange for more lenient punishment. This blend of therapeutic-grade essential oils was tested at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah in 1997. The studies showed the anti-bacterial effectiveness of the Thieves blend against airborne microorganisms. One analysis showed a 90 percent reduction in the number of gram positive Micrococcus luteus organisms after diffusing Thieves for 12 minutes. Then after diffusing Thieves for a total of 20 minutes, there was a 99.3 percent reduction. Another study against the gram negative Pseudomonas Aeruginosa showed a kill rate of 99.96 percent after just 12 minutes of diffusion of this blend. The oils are highly antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-infectious and helps to protect the body against such illnesses as flu, colds, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, sore throats, cuts, etc.

Application:
Dilute 1 part EO to 4 parts vegetable oil. Possible sun/skin sensitivity.
Diffuse for 15 to 20 minutes every 3 to 4 hours.
Apply to the bottom of the feet, throat, stomach, or abdomen. Dilute 1:15 in vegetable oil and massage over thymus.
For headaches, put 1 drop on tongue and push against roof of mouth.
Dilute 1:15 with vegetable oil for body massage.
Put 4-8 drops on cotton ball and locate on vents.
Add 2 drops to a wet cloth and put in clothes dryer.
ANTIVIRAL EFFECTS OF EUGENOL (a naturally occurring essential oil compound):
Eugenol strongly inhibits growth of HSVI and HSVII
Eugenol significantly delayed the onset of herpetic lesion on the eyes of infected animals.

TOXIC MOLDS:
1. Aspergillus parasiticus is a soil-borne fungus growing on both living and decaying plant matter.
2. This mold produces mycotoxins as metabolic by-products.
3. One mycotoxin, aflatoxin, BI has been identified as being the most toxic, carcinogenic, hepatotoxic, and potentially mutagenic.
4. Dr. Radwan Farag found that clove oil at only 6-8 parts in 10,000 totally inhibited mold and aflatoxin production. CLOVE OIL is in the blend of Thieves.

1. With the bacteria of M. Luteus it was around 4100 and after using Thieves the count dropped to around 700
2. With P. aeruginosa it was around 2000 and after using Thieves it dropped to 1
3. With S. aureus it was around 2300 and after using Thieves it dropped to 1000.

THE EFFECT OF TIME ON BACTERIA COUNTS:
THE BACTERIAL COUNT (CFU) 0 TO 10000
1. Bacteria starting out at 10000 at zero minutes
2. After 3 minutes of diffusing it dropped to 5000
3. After 6 minutes of diffusing it dropped to 800
4. After 9 minutes of diffusing it dropped to 2
5. After 12 minutes of diffusing you can hardly see it.

A 1999 Journal of Clinical Periodontology study found that a mouth rinse with essential oils of Thyme, Peppermint, Wintergreen, and Eucalyptus oils was more effective in improving oral health than a fluoride-based antiseptic.

In 1987, in one of the most comprehensive studies conducted, scientists in Scotland identified the most powerful anti-bacterial essential oils --- thyme, cinnamon, clove, and geranium. Cinnamon, thyme, and clove essential oils killed 92% of 25 different gram negative and positive bacterial strains, according to research published in the International Journal of Food Microbiology. The antimicrobial properties of essential oils have been thoroughly and systematically studied. {Kalemba et al,. University of Lodz}

IN 2006 RESEARCHERS IDENTIFIED THE MOST POWERFUL ANTIFUNGAL ESSENTIAL OILS.
In Vitro Efficiency of 75 Essential Oils against Aspergillus Niger Essential oils of cinnamon, clove, lemongrass, geranium, and thyme were equal or superior to the powerful anti-fungal drug, (Hexaconzasole.)
Aspergillus infection in the lung of a patient could result in death. The essential oil of cinnamon at a 0.04% concentration completely stopped the growth of 35 different fungi.
Clove essential oil, and its primary constituent, eugenol, kill more than 60 types of bacteria, 15 strains of fungi, and several viruses.
Clove oil reduced Candida infection in test subjects by 75% after 8 days, closely equivalent to Nystatin. 5% of adult women suffer from candidiasis which can have serious long term consequences.

DIFFUSING ESSENTIAL OILS IS HIGHLY EFFECTIVE IN KILLING INFECTIOUS MICROBES.
ONLY 12.5 mg (1/4 OF A DROP) OF PEPPERMINT OIL IN A LITER OF AIR WAS EFFECTIVE IN STOPPING GERM GROWTH. ESSENTIAL OILS HAVE STRONG ANTIVIRAL EFFECTS.
Virucidal effect of peppermint oil on the enveloped viruses herpes simples virus type 1 and type 2 in vitro, showed the plaque formation was significantly reduced by 82%. [Department of Virology, Hygiene Institute] Antiviral activity of Australian tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil against herpes simplex virus in cell culture was examined. Cytotoxicity of TTO and EUO was evaluated in a standard neutral red dye uptake assay. Toxicity of TTO and EUO was moderate for RC-37 cells and approached 50% (TC50) at concentrations of 0.006% and 0.03%, respectively. Anti-viral activity of TTO and EUO against simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) was tested in vitro on RC-37 cells using a plaque reduction assay. The 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) of TTO for herpes tested simplex virus plaque formation was 0.0009% and 0.0008% and the (IC50) of EUO was determined at 0.009% and 0.008% for HSV-1 and HSV-2, respectively. Australian tea tree oil exhibited high levels of virucidal activity against HSV-1 and HSV-2 in viral suspension tests.
